The Emerald Foundation Youths Action Grants strive to help young people realize their natural potential to reinvent the world. We are excited and inspired by the fact that each individual on this planet shares that potential to positively impact the world.

A non-governmental organization (NGO) is a legally constituted organization created by natural or legal persons that operates independently from any government. The term originated from the United Nations (UN), and is normally used to refer to organizations that do not form part of the government and are not conventional for-profit business.

The NGOs are most needed in the entire developing world to keep up the development projects, but now they are no longer about a dynamic socially committed group of people attracting and deploying funds. Most of them are also developing professional management teams to run their daily operations. This is vastly different from the earlier NGO model of centralized decision-making that was usually dependent on a charismatic founder or a committed charity organization.

  • Take some time to think about issues that are important to you.
  • Talk to your friends, family and fellow community members to find out about needs in your community.
  • Tell us about how your mission supports young people.
  • Find your passion. Explore your community. Assess needs. Create a plan to create positive change yourself.
  • Support and encourage the young people in your life to take action.
  • Think about how you talk about young people. By viewing and talking about young people not as problems to be solved, but as problems solvers, we can all have positive impact.
  • We also empower anyone anywhere with a computer and an internet connection to believe in themselves and know they are not alone!
