President Karzai Chairs National Security Meeting

December 25 , 2011- President Karzai chaired a regular meeting of the National Security Council to discuss overall security situation in the country and the operation by local police in Takhar, Baghlan and Kunduz provinces.
The meeting attended by the Vice-presidents, Ministers of Defense and Interior, National Security Advisor, Head of the NDS, Army Chief of Staff, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Counter Narcotics, Head of the IDLG and several other officials, focused on the overall security situation and heard a report by the interior ministry on the performance and operation of the local police in Takhar, Baghlan and Kunduz provinces.
Interior Minister Bismellah Muhammadi briefed the participants on the operation of the CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) in Faryab, Juzjan, Saripul and Laghman provinces.
Minister Muhammadi said, the operation of the CIP has been stopped after he spoke with General Allen, the NATO Commander in Afghanistan about the operation of CIP.
CIP has recently been established arbitrarily by NATO forces in Faryab, Juzjan, Saripul and Laghman, whose activities displeased the people in these provinces.
The meeting endorsed a request for appointing a leadership to command the Afghanistan Public Protection Force (APPF).
